Imaging 2001 brings three institutions together : IRIA, Manipal and Wipro GE, for a celebration of excellence in healthcare delivery, healthcare education and healthcare research, by bringing the best of minds together.


The Manipal group is known worldwide as a pioneer in healthcare and education. Wipro GE is today a global company providing technology solutions for clinical excellence and economic value. By choosing to convene its annual conference in Manipal, the IRIA is recognizing these achievements.
Wipro GE™s Six Sigma initiatives take benefit of process improvements beyond imaging unit or radiology department. Today, a number of our customers have experienced substantial process improvements in serving patients. We have completed 45 projects with customers.

We are fortunate to have as parents GE, the world™s most valuable and admired company, and Wipro, the most valuable company in India. Mr. Azim Premji, our Chairman has just been named the Businessman of the Year. Mr. Jeff Immelt, who is well known to our customers as the global leader of Medical Systems, has been named to succeed the legendary Mr. Welch as the Chair- man & CEO of GE. This further strengthens our commitment to the future of medical imaging and healthcare solutions in the subcontinent.
We ended 2000 realizing our vision of being ie$200M business by 2000. We welcome Mr. Joe Hogan as the new global leader of GE Medical Systems and he conveys the dedication of the entire global team to serving your needs better in 2001 and beyond.

Joseph M. Hogan, 43 years, has been appointed as the President & CEO of GE Medical Systems, a US$ 7 billion business of General Electric. GE Medical Systems is the global leader in medical diagnostic technology and information systems.
Joe (as he is called) began his career at GE in 1985, advancing through a series of leadership roles at GE Plastics, GE Corporate headquarters in Fairfield, Connecticut and GE Fanuc Automation North America, Inc.

Joe joined GE Medical Systems in April 2000 as Vice President of Global e-Business, a role that was expanded in June 2000 to the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He was promoted to President & CEO in late November 2000.

GE Chairman & CEO, Mr. John F. Welch said i.Joe Hogan has done an outstanding job for GE. Joe brings to this assignment an array of successful sales and operating experiences. Since joining the business earlier this year, Joe has helped drive the growth and e-focus of GE Medical Systems one of GE™s most sophisticated technology businesses. We believe he will be an excellent leader for Medical Systemsld.
