Clinical excellence and economic viability are factors vital to the success of healthcare in South Asia. Modest patient fees require high technology equipment to be capable of high patient throughput. Working with leading luminaries in the world, GE is able to pioneer new areas of clinical excellence.
In this issue we feature the GE Discovery LS which combines the advantages of PET and CT. These breakthroughs are migrations to more affordable equipment, be it CT, MRI or Ultrasound. An example where we have successfully combined clinical excellence with affordability is the GE OEC Cathlab. More than 25 users have chosen GE-OEC and we expect more cardiac care centres to go for it.
The need for cardiac care is increasing not only in India, but also in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. We feature some of the successful pioneers from these countries in this issue. Mr. Yoshiaki Fujimori who led GE Medical Systems - Asia for the last four years has been promoted to lead the GE Global Plastics business. We wish him success in the new assignment. Mr. Naren Gursahaney who was Vice President - Service, is the new President of GE Medical Systems - Asia. We welcome Naren. Thank you for helping us bring clinical excellence in a viable manner to our geography.

NEW SCHOOL OF NON-INVASIVE CARDIAC TECHNOLOGY IN BANGALORE

Cardiac technology has advanced rapidly with the latest equipment and techniques now conveniently available. There is however an acute shortage of trained technologists. To bridge this gap, Cardiac Research Academy - the City’s first School of Non-invasive Cardiac Technologists was inaugurated in Bangalore.

Dr. S.S. Ramesh, Managing Trustee of the Academy said, "The School has been set up in association with Wipro GE Medical Systems and Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Heart Centre".
Inaugurating the School, Mr. Naren Gursahaney, President & CEO, GE Medical Systems - Asia said, "GE is committed to Cardiology and would like to invest in more schools for training".
Mr. R. Ramachandran, CEO - Ultrasound & Marquette, Wipro GE said, "the company runs Training-in-Partnership Colleges in Radiology globally. And that, they have a lot of research material that will be made available for the course to update candidates and fully use the equipment."
